I believe this is where I introduce myself

I am a dutch game developer.

I love making and experimenting with all kinds of games. My focus is programming, but I am not shy of tackling other subjects. My dream is to create fun games that actually move people and impress them to do something amazing with their lives.

For that reason I am interested in all aspects that are home to game development. It's a big cluster of different aspects that come together and I think that's wonderful.

Personally I am a creator in my heart, I want to make the experience come to life so yes. I see myself mostly focused on being a gameplay programmer/designer with a squish of management. Oh and did I mention I also make (pixel) art... and music... So yeah, you can hire me for pretty much anything related to game development. I am at my best writing C# code to make games flow. I also really like cycling and swimming. Anyways. Be sure to follow the gif spamfest on my Twitter account.

My motto is kaizen which means, constant and never ending improvement. I love learning.

Board Hoard was made during one of the first game jams I joined, it also marked the start of my game company CoolCast, during this week I learned an new engine (Game Maker), learned about company business and publishing on Itch.io in less than two weeks.

I was responsible for programming (GML), design and PR of this game.

Things I learned were, experimenting with programming a good jump, velocity and gravity in a new programming language. And a little too much about keeping your game's scope sane.

Cyborg Ninja Madness was an experimentation of mine where I made a game using the Godot Engine. It was made for the Github Gameoff Gamejam which lasted a month. I made it in two weeks, programming, PR, art and design.

Everything you see was made by me using the Godot Engine.

My biggest lesson I learned was experimenting with feedback mechanics such as screenshake and time slows, subtle but very effective.

I also learned a lot about GDScript(Python) and the polymorphic structure of Godot (every internal and external class inherits from a base Node)

Ludum Dare 40 was quite hectic, I only just delivered my GitHub GameOff submission to go full force into Ludum Dare 40 with a beta build of Godot 3.0, which was quite fun.

In here I made a little game about an unlimited power level, in other words, you control a dragon which keeps getting power ups until the dragon is screen sized, also your damage, fire rate, fire spread, explosion radius and enemy spawnrate. It really got worse the more you had. This in just 48 hours.

I learned a lot about Vector math such as for example calculating the explosion's spread radius and power creep in the worst sense... I also animated a freaking dragon!

Trainsmission was made during the Global Game Jam of 2018. It's made with Unity. I did the programming, came up with most mechanics and interactions. This game got featured by several youtubers and stood in the top 20 of Itch.io for longer than a week.
